The Vision and Synthetic Environments Laboratory ("VASE Lab") of the Department of Computing and Electronic Systems of the University of Essex is where people explore all things virtual.

As its name suggests, a central theme of the research in the Lab is the overlap between computer vision and virtual reality. Within the Lab there is particular expertise in in real-time, vision-based position-finding; augmented reality, genetic learning and wearable computers.

You can find out more about what we do by looking at our projects page and see who works here at the moment on our people page. Some demonstrations of our work are also online, and we make available some of our software for you to use in your own research.
