The VASE Lab
The Vision and Synthetic Environments Laboratory ("VASE Lab") of the School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering of the University of Essex is where people explore all things visual. Part of the Robotics Research Group, the VASE Lab is the focus of research into computer vision and virtual reality; indeed, a significant part of the Lab's research explores the boundaries between the two disciplines.

Within the Lab there is particular expertise in:
- processing imagery from aerial robots;
- the evaluation of vision systems and components;
- low-level feature detection in images and videos;
- the design and construction of vision systems using machine learning;
- real-time, vision-based position-finding; and
- outdoor, untethered augmented reality and wearable computers.
